24 Best Healthy Travel Snack Ideas

If you ask me, healthy snacks are a must when it comes to travel planning.

It’s no secret among my friends and family that I get hangry if I go too long without eating. So, really, I consider it an act of public service to be diligent about packing at least a few snacks whenever we hit the road or the friendly (or not so friendly, such as the case may be these days!) skies.

I try to choose a combination of things that are tasty, energizing, and nourishing.

24 Healthy Travel Snacks to Keep Your Body Nourished and Energized While You Travel

Below are 24 of my favorite travel snacks—mix and match to your heart’s delight, aiming for a blend of protein, carbs, and produce. Some items are non-perishable and others you’ll want to put in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack:

  1. Apple slices and packable nut butter packets

  2. Individual trail mix packages from Trader Joes

  3. Hard-boiled eggs with a drizzle of Dijon mustard and a sprinkle of Everything Bagel seasoning

  4. Kind bars

  5. Popcorn

  6. Cherries or grapes and string cheese

  7. Triscuits and cheese slices

  8. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on whole grain bread (swap the jam for fresh bananas or berries for a nutrient dense upgrade!)

  9. Baby carrots, cucumbers, or bell peppers and hummus

  10. A bag of cherry tomatoes (especially if they’re straight from the garden!) and some almonds or walnuts

  11. Roasted chickpeas (I like the Biena brand—be sure to mix in some of the Thin Mint flavored ones for added yum!)

  12. Seasoned tuna pouches with crackers

  13. Homemade granola bars (I especially like these ones from Cookie and Kate)

  14. RX bars

  15. Edamame sprinkled with sea salt

  16. RIND dried fruit snacks and nuts

  17. Sun chips

  18. Purely Elizabeth superfood oat cups

  19. Brami Italian Snacking Lupini beans (check out the sea salt and vinegar flavor)

  20. Baby carrots, snap peas, and almond butter packets

  21. Nature’s Bakery fig bars

  22. Dark chocolate covered berries or almonds

  23. Greek yogurt (my current fav is the Chobani less sugar variety of lemon yogurt)

  24. Sliced turkey and Swiss cheese rollups with a smear of dijon mustard or hummus

Don’t forget your water bottle so you can remember to hydrate throughout your trip!
